President Abbas meets Turkish counterpart in Kazan

KAZAN, October 24, 2024 (WAFA) – President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas met onThursday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on the sidelines of the BRICS summit held in the Russian city of Kazan.

The President thanked his Turkish counterpart for his country's supportive stances towards Palestinian people and their just cause in all international forums, the latest of which was submitting its file to join the genocide case filed against Israel at the International Court of Justice, in addition to the humanitarian aid provided by Turkey to Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The President discussed with the Turkish President the development and strengthening of the historical bilateral relations based on brotherhood and cooperation between the two countries and brotherly peoples, and a number of issues of common interest.

President Abbas reviewed the latest developments on the Palestinian scene, and the ongoing efforts with all parties to stop the Israeli aggression against Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and the genocide in the northern Gaza Strip, and to accelerate the entry of humanitarian aid, withdraw from the entire Gaza Strip, and stop the attacks of the occupation forces and terrorist colonists on Palestinian people in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The President stressed the importance of concerted efforts to oblige Israel to abide by international legitimacy and international law decisions, implement the decisions of international courts, the latest of which is the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, obtain more recognition of the Palestinian state, support the State of Palestine's full membership in the United Nations, and hold an international peace conference.

The President touched on the difficult economic and financial conditions that the State of Palestine is going through as a result of the continued aggression and Israel's withholding of clearance funds, and strangling the Palestinian economy, which has been reflected in the performance of the Palestinian government and its duties towards Palestinian people.
