RAMALLAH, October 20, 2024 (WAFA) – In the past two days, Israeli occupation forces have detained at least 30 Palestinians, including former prisoners, in various locations across the West Bank.
According to a joint statement from the Palestinian Prisoners' Society and the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, the detentions were carried out in several governorates, including Hebron, Nablus, Ramallah, Jenin, Jericho, Jerusalem, and Salfit.
These operations were accompanied by widespread raids, assaults, threats against detainees and their families, field interrogations, and the destruction of homes.
The statement highlighted that since the onset of the ongoing offensive against the Palestinian people in October 2023, more than 11,300 detentions have been documented in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
Additionally, the report noted that Israeli forces continue to detain civilians from Gaza, particularly from the northern regions, including women, children, and medical staff, committing acts of enforced disappearance.
According to the statement, the occupation authorities have refused to fully disclose the identities and locations of these detainees, with organizations unable to ascertain the total number of detentions in Gaza, which is estimated to be in the thousands.
The ongoing systematic campaign of detentions has intensified significantly since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli genocide, not only in terms of the sheer number of detainees but also regarding the level of violence and violations committed during these operations.
