CAIRO, October 3, 2024 (WAFA) – The State of Palestine participated today in an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives, chaired by Yemen and attended by Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Hossam Zaki. The meeting focused on Arab solidarity with Lebanon and addressing the serious repercussions of the Israeli aggression.
The Palestinian delegation was headed by Ambassador Mohannad Aklouk, Palestine’s representative to the Arab League.
The meeting was convened at the request of Iraq, which called for an extraordinary session to discuss the military escalation by Israel against Lebanon and its humanitarian implications.
The agenda included ways to assist displaced persons and refugees, deliver urgent medical and food aid to affected communities in Lebanon, and urge the international community to support the Lebanese people and cooperate with international organizations for the swift delivery of assistance.
Zaki expressed solidarity with Lebanon and its government, emphasizing support for all its citizens during this difficult time, and highlighted the collective stance against the targeting of the Lebanese state and its resources, which threatens stability.
Aklouk remarked on Israel's "criminal aggression" affecting Gaza, Beirut, Damascus, Hodeidah, Nablus, Jenin, Tulkarm, and all Palestinian cities, noting that Israel's extensive military capabilities are being used to attack four Arab nations simultaneously: Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. He stressed that these actions pose a significant threat to the national security of all Arab states.
He reiterated Palestine’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s government and people in their struggle against Israeli aggression, asserting that the Palestinian people will not be defeated or leave their land, and that Israel will ultimately face failure and defeat, regardless of how long it takes.
