YAOUNDÉ, Thursday, August 29, 2024 (WAFA) – The 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) kicked off today in the Cameroonian capital, Yaoundé, with the participation of the State of Palestine.
At the opening of the session, themed "Development of Intra-OIC Transport and Communication Infrastructure: Major instrument in the fight against poverty and insecurity," Prime Minister of Cameroon Jospeh Ngute stressed the centrality of the Palestinian question to the OIC as well as the need to implement the two-state solution and immediately cease the ongoing Israeli genocidal aggression against the Palestinian people.
Palestine’s UN envoy, Riyad Mansour, who headed Palestine’s delegation, gave a comprehensive briefing to the attendees on the latest developments on the Palestinian area, as he made note of President Mahmoud Abbas’ plan to visit the war-torn Gaza Strip, the expanding wave of recognition of Palestinian statehood and support for Palestine’s bid for full membership of the United Nations.
OIC Secretary-General, Hissein Brahim Taha, said that the OIC was proceeding with its efforts aimed at addressing the implications of the Israeli aggression against and reinforcing the resilience of the Palestinian people on their land, and defending their inalienable legitimate rights.
