RAMALLAH, Thursday, July 4, 2024 (WAFA) – War and colonial settlement construction will bring neither peace nor security to anyone, Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh stated on Thursday.
Abu Rudeineh said that the Israeli occupation authorities’ declaration of over 12,000 dunams of Palestinian land at the Jordan Valley as state land, the decision to construct over 5,000 new colonial units in the West Bank territories and the legalization of three colonial outposts all affirm that this extremist Israeli government is shackled by the Israeli right’s policy of furthering war and colonial settlement construction.
He added that war and colonial settlement construction would bring neither security nor peace to anyone and that these Israeli decisions were intended to prevent the establishment of a viable and geographically contiguous Palestinian State on the Palestinian territories of the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip that has been occupied since 1967 as a whole.
He affirmed that Israeli colonial settlement in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967 is illegal, particularly that the United Nations (UN) system and the UN Security Council (UNSC) have repeatedly affirmed the illegality and legal nullity of the Israeli colonial settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and the need to dismantle them.
He stressed that the aforementioned Israeli decisions and measures require all states keen on the realization of stability and security in the region to take immediate action to halt them.
He added that the Palestinian people would not stand idle as this extremist Israeli government, whose members have vowed not only to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state, but also called for the destruction of Palestinian cities and the forced expulsion of Palestinians from their land and houses, proceed with its measures.
He held the US administration responsible for these Israeli decisions that push the region towards a total conflagration, and demanded it to take immediate action to oblige Israel, the occupying power, to halt not only its genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, but also its crimes and settler-colonialism.
