President Abbas stresses immediate cessation of Israeli aggression, expedited humanitarian access to Gaza

AMMAN, Tuesday, June 11, 2024 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas today stressed the need for the immediate cessation of Israeli aggression and expediting the access of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

During a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Prabowo Subianto at the sidelines of the “Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza” conference at the King Hussein bin Talal Convention Center in the Dead Sea area, President Mahmoud Abbas stressed the need for the immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

He also stressed the need for the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the entire Gaza Strip, expediting the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip to avert the risk of famine due to the occupation’s control over and closure of all crossings, and the importance of the release of the tax revenues withheld by the occupation authorities.

He reaffirmed that the Strip is a part and parcel of and falls under the responsibility of the Palestinian state and the occupation’s schemes aimed at separating the Strip from the rest of the Palestinian territories are unacceptable and could not be dealt with.

He briefed his Indonesian counterpart on the serious Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, ongoing settler assaults and encroachments upon the holy sites, particularly in Jerusalem.

He thanked President Subianto for his country’s unlimited support to the Palestinian people and their question at various levels and in international forums.

The leaders discussed the means to foster bilateral Palestinian-Indonesian relations in all fields.

President Subianto reiterated his country’s unwavering positions in support of the Palestinian people as well as to the Palestinian people’s rights to freedom and to the establishment of their independent state, with East Jerusalem as the capital.
