RAMALLAH, Tuesday, May 7, 2024 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) today said that the Israeli occupation army had committed a heinous crime yesterday evening against the 8-year-old child, Jude Ashraf Walid Hamidat, from in the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp, located in the city of Jericho in the occupied West Bank after injuring and arresting him.
PPS said in a statement that it became clear that the child Hamidat is detained at Hadassah Al-Issawiya Hospital, and we were not able to confirm his health condition except that he was injured in the neck.
According to Hamidat`s family, "their son was playing with another child from the family in Aqabat Jabr camp before he was shot and detained by the occupation soldiers."
"This crime is only part of the systematic crimes that the occupation continues to carry out against Palestinian children, in light of the ongoing genocide against our people in Gaza."
PPS further held Israel fully responsible for the fate of the child Hamidat and for all children detained in Israeli occupation prisons.
Late yesterday, Israeli occupation forces fired at a child, injuring him, and subsequently arrested him in the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp in Jericho.
Adeeb Barahmeh, director of the Palestinian Prisoners Society in Jericho, told WAFA that Israeli forces fired at 8-year-old Joud Ashraf Hamidat near the southern cemetery in the Aqabat Jabr camp and arrested him without knowing his health condition.
The health condition of the child, who sustained injuries as a result of the attack remain unknown so far.
