HEBRON, Thursday, April 25, 2024 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation forces today closed the Bab al-Zawiya area and two main streets leading to the center of Hebron, to secure the colonists’ incursion into an archaeological site.
Sources said that a large force of Israeli army raided the Bab al-Zawiya area along with several areas and shut down Beer Al-Saba and Old Wadi al-Tuffah streets, forcing shop owners to close and forcibly evacuating them.
The heavily-armed forces attacked Palestinian-owned vehicles and proprieties during the large-scale home raids and searches amidst massive firing of stun grenades and tear gas bombs in order to provide protection for dozens of extremist colonists storming the archaeological site located on Beer Al-Saba street.
Thousands of colonists continued to storm the Ibrahimi Mosque and the Old City of Hebron, holding Talmudic rituals in its internal and external squares, led by the extremist minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
The city of Hebron is witnessing a major escalation in colonists’ incursions into archaeological and religious sites, accompanied by repressive measures and closures imposed by the Israeli occupation forces, the latest of which was yesterday’s complete closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque and the Old City of Hebron.
The Mosque will be opened on Friday night to the colonists to perform Talmudic prayers under the pretext of Jewish holidays.
The occupation authorities had previously announced a two-day closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque to Muslim worshippers as of today under the pretext of celebrating Passover.
