Embassies of Palestine worldwide plant olive trees in symbolic gesture on Land Day

RAMALLAH, Saturday, March 30, 2024 (WAFA) – In commemoration of the Palestinian Day, embassies of the State of Palestine took part in planting olive trees, symbolizing resilience and connection to the homeland, in several locations worldwide.

The first tree was planted at the Embassy of Palestine in Hungary, with Arab, Muslim, European, Asian, African, and Latin American ambassadors joining in the ceremonial planting.

In Hungary, two trees were planted in churches symbolizing unity among different communities, with both the Coptic and Hungarian Protestant churches participating in the initiative. The trees were adorned with the Palestinian and Hungarian flags, underscoring the solidarity between nations.

Each tree, dubbed the "Palestine Tree," was adorned with the Palestinian flag and inscribed with verses from the renowned poem by the late Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, "On this earth what makes life worth living."

Similarly, in Venezuela, the Palestinian Embassy planted a Palestine Tree as a symbol of resilience and steadfastness, embellished with the flags of both Palestine and Venezuela.

The symbolic gesture extended to South Africa, where the embassy's grounds became the site for planting a Palestine Tree, with the same insignia and flags representing both nations.

Malaysia also joined in, symbolizing the Asian continent by planting a Palestine Tree at its embassy, echoing Darwish's words alongside the flags of both nations.
