Israeli reverses decision to reopen the Al-Karama crossing with Jordan

JERICHO, October 7, 2023 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation authorities continued today to close the King Hussein Bridge/al-Karama border crossing with Jordan for Palestinian travelers, according to the Palestinian Crossings Authority.

The head of the authority, Nathmi Muhanna, told WAFA that the Israeli occupation had rescinded their decision to reopen the crossing to Palestinian travelers after 24 hours of shutdown. The crossing was supposed to be operating today from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

He said no time was given for when the crossing will be reopened, adding that Israeli occupation authorities had limited the Al-Karama crossing to the movement of pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia.

This sudden change in policy has disrupted the plans and movements of Palestinian residents and travelers in the region, further adding to the challenges and restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities on the Palestinian population.
