RAMALLAH , Tuesday, August 8, 2023 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces today detained 13 Palestinians, mostly ex-prisoners, during a large-scale detention campaign in town of Kobar, to the northwest of Ramallah city, according to a local activist.
Shawkt Al-Barghouti, head of Kobar municipality, told WAFA that a large unit of Israeli soldiers broke into the town, where they detained 13 Palestinians, most of them are ex-prisoners.
Following the raid, intense confrontations broke out between youths and Israeli soldiers, during which the latter fired tear gas bombs at youths.
No suffocation cases were reported, however.
Al-Barghouti pointed out that this incursion comes after the settlers' attempts to establish a settlement outpost in the al-Batin area in the southern side of Kobar, but the residents were able to expel them and dismantle the outpost.
The Israeli occupation issued a military decision to seize the area in 1985, but the settlers were unable to settle there.
