Israel seizes 7.498 dunams of land in Qabatiya under urgent military order

RAMALLAH, September 4, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation authorities today seized 7.498 dunams of land in the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin, under a military order designated as “immediate and urgent” on alleged “security and military” grounds.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said the military order, No. M.D. 28/26, targets specific areas in Blocks 28 and 34 of Qabatiya’s lands.

An analysis of maps attached to the order indicates plans to establish a longitudinal route, or military road, extending from an existing road and ending at an area intended to become a military position equipped with a newly established military tower.

The order is valid for 60 days from the date of its signing and grants the so-called officer for the affairs of the Israeli Defense Ministry full possession of the targeted lands. The order also severely restricts the ability of affected landowners to object, allowing them only 24 hours to submit objections following a field inspection scheduled by the Israeli Coordination and Liaison Administration.

An analysis of the attached map also reveals a significant geographic link: the newly established “security route and military position” lies directly north of the new illegal colonial outpost known as “Noa,” where colonial housing units have recently been established.

The commission said the positioning reflects Israel’s use of alleged “security necessities” as a pretext for issuing military orders across Palestinian lands to open roads and establish infrastructure that effectively facilitates the seizure of additional land and broader colonial expansion in the area.
