JENIN, Sunday, August 6, 2023 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces last night mapped the family home of slain Palestinian youth Kamel Mahmoud Abu Bakr in the village of Rumana, to the northwest of Jenin, in preparation for its punitive demolition.

The Israeli occupation authorities accuse Abu Bakr of carrying out a shooting operation in Tel Aviv on Saturday night, which resulted in the killing of an Israeli and the injury of another one. He himself was shot dead by Israeli police at the scene of the operation.

An Israeli army force stormed Abu Bakr’s family home in Rumana after midnight Saturday-Sunday, wreaking havoc throughout the house before mapping it for demolition later in an acto of reprisal.

Confrontations erupted between local Palestinian protesters and the Israeli occupation army during the raid in the village, during which Israeli soldiers fired live shots and teargas canisters at the protesters. At least one Palestinian was lightly injured, according to local sources.

Two Palestinians were arrested by the Israeli occupation forces during the raid.

Israeli occupation authorities have long used to punitively demolish the family homes of Palestinians accused of carrying out attacks on Israelis, a policy that Israel does not apply to Israeli settlers who are involved in fatal attacks against Palestinians.

The policy has been widely condemned by human rights groups as a collective punishment and a war crime.
