RAMALLAH, Wednesday, June 7, 2023 (WAFA) - The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said the Israel Prison Services (IPS) began summoning administrative detainees and threatening them in light of the decision by the Committee of Administrative Detainees to start a hunger strike on June 18 in protest against their detention without charge or trial.
It said that the IPS aims to put pressure on the detainees to discourage them from going on hunger strike and it also makes promises to some that in the event they do not join the hunger strike, their administrative detention orders will not be renewed.
The PPS pointed out that, in addition to these measures, the Israeli intelligence continues to issue administrative detention orders under the pretext of having a secret file.
More than 1300 administrative detention orders were issued since the beginning of this year.
