Sit-in held in Ramallah in support of two hunger-striking prisoners in Israeli jails

RAMALLAH, Saturday, June 18, 2022 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinians participated today in a sit-in in Ramallah in support of two Palestinian prisoners, who have been on an open-ended hunger strike in protest of their administrative detention in Israel.

Protesters held signs condemning the Israeli occupation and holding it fully responsible for the lives of prisoners Khalil Awadeh and Raed Rayyan, who have been on an open-ended hunger strike for 110 days, and 75 days, respectively.

They also called for supporting the issue of prisoners in Israeli jails, particularly those on hunger strike to regain their freedom.

Protesters called on the international community and human rights organizations to uphold their responsibilities and promptly intervene to save the lives of all prisoners in Israeli jails.

Khalil Awawdeh, 40, from the southern West Bank town of Idna, has been on hunger strike for 110 days today demanding his freedom.

Raed Rayyan, 27, from the village of Beit Deqqo, northwest of Jerusalem, has been on hunger strike for 75 days today.

Israel's widely criticized administrative detention policy is intended to muzzle Palestinian political activists and curtail their freedom for as long as possible.
