RAMALLAH, Wednesday, March 16, 2022 (WAFA) - The Palestinian government renewed its demand for the immediate release of the cancer-stricken and critically ill prisoner in Israeli jails, Nasser Abu Hmeid.
The government in a statement renewed the call for the immediate release of prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid following severe deterioration on his health.
According to the prisoner’s brother, Najji, the results of the last nuclear imaging conducted at Assaf Harofeh Hospital in Tel Aviv detected the recurrence of cancer in Nasser’s body, adding that there are doubts that the cancer cells has reached the brain.
He noted that no date has been set for the resumption of Nassir’s chemotherapy sessions, which were halted several months ago after his health condition deteriorated at the Barzilai Medical Center in Israel.
He said that his brother is in a very frail condition; he suffers from progressive memory loss and is unable to eat and suffers from constant dizziness and vomiting. Nasser’s need for more oxygen supplies has also increased, which makes it harder for him to walk.
Nasser Abu Hmeid, 49, from Amari refugee camp in Ramallah who has been in prison since 2002 and serving seven life terms plus 50 years for his resistance of the Israeli occupation, is suffering from lung cancer, and, according to his family, his health has gravely deteriorated.
