RAMALLAH,
Thursday, September 30, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday overnight
detained at least seven Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank,
according to local sources.
They
confirmed that Israeli police rounded up a Palestinian youth after searching
him near the entrance of Shufat refugee camp.
They
also interrogated and rounded up one of the Waqf-appointed
guards as the latter was heading to his work at Al-Aqsa
Mosque.
Police
assaulted and detained another Palestinian for confronting groups of settlers
who held a provocative tour in al-Wad Street.
In
Bethlehem district, Israeli forces rounded up a Palestinian after storming the
bakery where he works in the vicinity of Aida refugee camp, north of the city.
They
also detained another after storming and ransacking his house in the camp.
In
Ramallah city, soldiers barged their way into al-Masayef
neighborhood, leading to protests and causing many Palestinians to suffer the
effects of tear gas inhalation.
In
the northern West Bank, soldiers conducted a similar raid in Beita town, south of Nablus, resulting in the detention of
two former prisoners, as confirmed by the head of the town council, Mousa Hamayel.
In
Jenin district, the soldiers detained another young
man and ransacked his house, turning it topsy-turvy in Burqin
town, southwest of Jenin.
During
the confrontations sparked by the killing 22-year-old Alaa
Zyoud in the town, the soldiers opened live fire
towards local youngsters, hitting two with shrapnel in the back and chest.
Two
former prisoners from Qabatiya town, south of Jenin, were re-arrested as they attempted to pass Huwara checkpoint, south of Nablus, on Wednesday evening.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
