Israeli forces detain 11 Palestinians from West Bank

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, November 24, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Tuesday overnight detained 11 Palestinians in raids that triggered confrontations across the West Bank, according to the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

It confirmed that Israeli forces rounded up three Palestinians from Ramallah and al-Bireh district.

Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers rounded up a Palestinian as he was crossing Dothan checkpoint, southeast of Yaabad town.

Soldiers rounded up another after stopping him at a military checkpoint near Jericho city.

Both detainees were identified as residents of Jenin city.

PPS added that a third Palestinian was detained from the northern West Bank district of Jenin.

In Nablus district, PPS confirmed a military raid in Beit Furik town, east of Nablus city, resulting in the detention of a former prisoner after ransacking his house.

Soldiers carried out a similar raid in Awarta town, southeast of the city, resulting in the detention of two others.

In Hebron district,  Israeli forces barged their way into al-Arroub refugee camp, north of the city, where they rounded up a 16-year-old teen.

PPS confirmed a similar raid in Dura city, southwest of Hebron, resulting in the detention of another Palestinian.

Israeli troops conducted a similar raid in Adh-Dhahiriya town, south of the city, where they stormed and thoroughly searched at least two houses besides to a blacksmith workshop, and seized its equipment.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
