JERUSALEM, Friday, October 23, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday overnight detained 10 Palestinians and seized cash in multiple raids across the West Bank, local and security sources said.
The sources confirmed that Israeli police rounded up five Palestinians after ransacking their houses in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Issawiya.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces barged their way into Jenin city, where they rounded up two Palestinians.
One of the two detainees was identified as a former prisoner. During the raid to re-arrest him, soldiers seized ILS 3,000 and his mobile phone.
Soldiers conducted a similar raid in al-Yamoun town, west of the city, resulting in the detention of another.
In the meantime, the sources confirmed a similar raid in Bethlehem city, where soldiers detained two others.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
