Minor among five Palestinians detained from West Bank

JENIN, Wednesday, September 23, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday overnight detained at least five Palestinians from various parts of the west Bank, according to local sources.

The sources confirmed that Israeli forces manning Dothan military checkpoint, close to Yaabad town, stopped and rounded up two Palestinians, including a minor.

The two detainees were identified as residents of Qabatia town, south of Jenin.

Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, Director of the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) Office in Tubas city confirmed an Israeli military raid in the city, resulting in the detention of a Palestinian.

In Bethlehem district, Israeli forces barged their way into Beit Fajjar town, south of the city, where they rearrested a former prisoner after ransacking his family house.

In Hebron district, an Israeli military raid was confirmed in As-Samou‘ town, south of the city, resulting in the detention of another.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
