RAMALLAH, May 13, 2012 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Salam Fayyad Sunday stressed the importance of an active international intervention to save the lives of hundreds of hunger-striking Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, according to a statement released from his office.
Fayyad, while receiving a British Parliamentary delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the House of Lords Baroness Morris of Bolton, said the strikers face real danger due to the Israeli stalling and called to respond to their just humanitarian demands.
The prisoners demand to halt the Israeli policies of solitary confinement and humiliating strip-search; allow family visitations, especially for families of Gaza prisoners; improve the prisoners’ living conditions as prior to the year 2000; and end administrative detention, added the statement.
In addition, Fayyad informed Baroness Morris of Bolton on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian Territory and the serious Israeli violations committed against the Palestinian people that jeopardize the two-state solution.
