JERUSALEM, February 7, 2012 (WAFA) – Timothy Rothermel, UNDP’s Special Representative to the Palestinian Territory between 1995 and 2005 and a known friend of the Palestinian people, passed away on Monday, according to a statement issued by the UNDP office in Jerusalem on Tuesday.
Frode Mauring, current UNDP Special Representative, said that for over 30 years, Rothermel worked closely with and for the Palestinian People.
“With his passing, UNDP lost a great deal of knowledge and wisdom, the Palestinian community lost a respected friend and partner who left an indelible and positive mark on the Palestinian landscape,” he said.
“Rothermel has been one of the most steadfast believers in the Palestinians’ abilities, talents and human resources. He retained his love for the Palestinians till the end, and for PAPP (Program of Assistance to the Palestinian People), the endeavor of his life, besides his family”, said Mauring.
