AMMAN, January 26, 2012 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Thursday met with European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton in his place of residence in the Jordanian capital Amman.
Abbas discussed with Ashton the latest developments in the region and ways to push peace talks forward.
The meeting came as Palestinians have said they would not return to the Amman exploratory talks past the Thursday deadline because Israel did not come forward with proposals on borders and security as requested in the Quartet’s September 23 statement.
The EU is trying to keep the talks from collapsing.
