RAMALLAH, January 25, 2012 (WAFA) - The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced Wednesday the opening of its headquarters in Gaza City after receiving keys from the Hamas authorities, a CEC statement said.

“The CEC will immediately commence its preparations in Gaza, which include upgrading its five district offices, recruitment and training of staff and updating the voters list,” said the statement.

National elections are targeted for May 4, but a delay is expected. President Mahmoud Abbas has not yet announced a date for the elections.
