Inter-Parliamentary Union to Send Delegation to Palestine, Says Official

RAMALLAH, January 25, 2012 (WAFA) - The Geneva-based Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) agreed to send a fact-finding delegation to the Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem to look into Israeli violations, Fatah Central Committee member Azzam al-Ahmad told Voice of Palestine Wednesday.

Ahmad, who headed the Palestinian delegation to the IPU meeting, said the mission is expected to arrive in the Palestinian Territory in March and it is going to monitor Israeli violations of Palestinian rights.

IPU condemned the Israeli arrest of Palestinian lawmakers and the travel ban against Qais Abdul Karim, elected member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, who was supposed to attend the Geneva meeting, added Ahmad.

He said the Israeli parliament members to the IPU meeting were heavily criticized due to Israeli policy in the Palestinian Territory.
