RAMALLAH, January 23, 2012 (WAFA) – PLO Executive Committee Member, Nabil Shaath Monday discussed with Norway Representative for the Palestinian Authority, Hans Jacob, the latest political developments and Norway’s historical role in the area.
Shaath reviewed, during the meeting with Jacob, the Amman talks, which came as a last chance by the international community to revive the peace process, stalled due to the Israeli intransigence.
He called on Norway to play a leading role with the Scandinavian and northern countries to recognize and support a Palestinian state, as well as to accept its membership in the international organizations.
Shaath praised the EU’s documented positions and recommendations by EU diplomatic delegations, criticizing Israeli policies against the Palestinian people and the city of Jerusalem.
The Quartet set January 26 as the date line for both the Palestinian and Israeli sides to present their proposals regarding borders and security.
