WASHINGTON, December 29, 2011 (WAFA) – The American Congress approved on Wednesday the release of US$40 million of American financial aid to the Palestinian Authority, said a statement by the US Department of State.

The American Congress decided to freeze US$200 million of its financial aid after the PA submitted its bid to seek full membership in the United Nations.

The statement said that the US Agency for International Development (USAID) was responsible for releasing part of the US financial aid to the PA.

The American Congress stated earlier that it will continue its financial aid to the PA as long as it is not a full member in the UN.
