RAMALLAH, August 1, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers Monday killed two Palestinians and injured another in a raid at Qalandia refugee camp near Ramallah, in the central West Bank.
During an Israeli raid in the early morning to arrest Palestinian youths in the camp, Israeli soldiers opened fire randomly, killing Motasem Adwan, 22, after a direct shot in the head. Ali Khalifa also died of severe injuries after Israeli soldiers shot him in the stomach.
The soldiers critically injured another Palestinian and arrested two youths from Qalandia, as well as handing notices to several Palestinians to appear at the Israeli intelligence office.
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, condemned the “Israeli crime” in Qalandia.
He held the Israeli government responsible for the murder of the two Palestinians and said, “This crime, along with the settlers’ continuous attacks, are attempts to escalate the atmosphere before September.”
