PCC Declares Full Support to Going to UN

RAMALLAH, July 28, 2011 (WAFA) - The Palestinian Central Council (PCC) announced, on Thursday, its full support to the leadership's decision to go to the United Nations next September to gain the recognition and full UN membership of a Palestinian State.

PCC called to achieve national reconciliation as soon as possible, in its final statement issued in the 25 session, which was on achieving statehood and unity, held in Ramallah on July 27 and 28.

The session was chaired by Speaker of the Palestinian National Council (PNC) Salim Zanoun, and in the presence of President Mahmoud Abbas.

The council said in its statement that the popular struggle against occupation is a Palestinian legitimate right, calling Arabs to support Palestinian people.

It stressed that East Jerusalem is the eternal capital of our state; it is “an integral part of the Palestinian Territory occupied in June 1967 and the Security Council resolution 242 is applicable to Jerusalem as it is applicable to the other occupied Palestinian and Arab territories.”

PCC condemned the Israeli measures which prevented number of the Council members from participating in the meeting.
