TEL-AVIV, July 25, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli National Security Adviser Ya’akov Amidror is looking into the possibility of cancelling the Oslo Accords in response to the Palestinian bid to gain a full recognition of an independent state this September.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked Amidror to prepare a draft to the political leadership in response to the Palestinian bid. Israel believes that Palestinians will appeal directly to the UN General Assembly and not the Security Council, in order to avoid an American veto.
A senior Israeli government official told Haaretz that Amidror has met with representatives of the foreign, defense, security and justice ministries, in which the cancellation of the Oslo Accords was discussed due to Israeli fears that the Palestinians may, after their state is recognized, appeal in the International Court at the Hague to try to alter the economic and security arrangements reached over the past 18 years.
