JERUSALEM, July 18, 2011 (WAFA) – An Israeli court Monday fined a Palestinian family in the Bustan area in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan more than $10,000 for building its house without a permit, according to local sources.
The court also gave the owner, Widad Tawil, a mother of eight, until October to obtain a building permit from the Israeli municipality otherwise the house will be demolished.
Tawil expressed fear that she might lose her 85-square-meter house since it will be impossible to obtain a building permit in Silwan.
The all-Jewish Israeli municipality is planning to demolish all 88 houses in the Bustan area in order to build a Talmudic garden on their ruins, displacing 1600 Palestinians.
