CAIRO, July 16, 2011 (WAFA) – Arab League Secretary-General Mohammed Al-Orabi said that all standards needed for establishing a Palestinian state of people, territory and sovereignty are provided and recognized in international documents, in statements on Friday night.
Orabi, who is also Egypt’s foreign minister, called to activate the late Palestinian president Yasser Arafat’s declaration of the Palestinian state in 1988, which was recognized in the United Nations as an observer but not as a state at that time.
Orabi also expressed optimism in gaining UN recognition of a Palestinian state within 1967 borders by increasing the number of countries recognizing the Palestinian state; the number is now 117 countries.
