JERUSALEM, June 26.2011 (WAFA) - Israeli bulldozers Friday night razed 100 tombs in ‘Ma’man Allah’ historical cemetery in East Jerusalem, witnesses said.
They said that the Israeli bulldozers started the operation last night, and lasted until the early hours of this morning.
The operation focused on the east side of the cemetery, where bulldozers would pile the graves up, or pile them into trucks, to put them in boxes.
Israeli Court has given permission months ago to the Israeli army to continue with razing the tombs in the cemetery.
‘Ma'man Allah’ cemetery is one of the oldest and biggest Islamic cemeteries in all of Jerusalem, but since 1948 the cemetery has been targeted by Israeli forces. Currently, a big part of it has been transformed into parks, hotels, and parking lots.
Israeli authorities plan is to destroy the rest of the cemetery and build what is called “Tolerance Museum”, a new Israeli court complex, and parking spaces.
