Jerusalem, June 7, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli police Tuesday allowed extremist Jewish groups to enter al-Aqsa mosque yards, where they roamed under heavy police protection.
Witnesses said Israeli police surrounded Palestinian worshippers and threatened to detain them if they chanted religious slogans at the extremist groups.
Palestinian religious and national leadership had called on Palestinians to be heavily present in al-Aqsa, to face extremist Jews' intentions to break into the mosque on the eve of the Jewish Shavout holiday.
