Palestinian Prisoner Released after Four Years

JERUSALEM, March 6, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities Sunday released Palestinian prisoner Nada Dirbas, 23, from Jerusalem after spending four hours in Hasharon prison.

Dirbas said that women prisoners in Israeli jails demand to refrain from condemnation, to take practical steps towards freeing the Palestinian prisoners, and to achieve national unity.

There are 37 women Palestinian prisoners in Hasharon and Damon prisons, two of them are in solitary confinement, five of them are sentenced for life-time, and eight of them are mothers.

A report by the Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees issued on Sunday said that the last ten years have been the worst for the Palestinian women prisoners, as Israeli authorities have been severely violating international laws and charters, including detention of underage girls, mothers and pregnant women. There have been four cases of child birth inside prisons.
