RAMALLAH, August 9, 2010 (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas said, today, that Mahmoud Darweesh was never absent; for he is always present in our memory, in our hearts and minds.

The President added, as he lay flowers on Darweesh’s tomb, on the second commemoration of his passing away, that the late poet is a very remarkable monument, not only in the history of the Palestinian people and the Arab nation, but also in the history of the world.

He continued: “when the world remembers some poets, writers or important figures that ever lived, Mahmoud Darweesh is the first to come on mind.
