Ramallah, August 23, 2009 (WAFA)- The Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees (PARC) and Palestine Gardens Company in Ramallah signed an agreement to market and encourage the export of Palestinian agricultural products, awarded the Globalgap prize.
Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Ismail De’eiq, who attended the signing ceremony, commended the agreement, and affirmed the importance of a tripartite partnership between the governmental, civil and private institutions. He stated, “the problem of product marketing cannot be solved unless there was coordination and mutual support between the institutions.”
Director General of the PARC, Khalil Sheeha, pointed out that the PARC’s role is to provide target farmers’ with production inputs, advising services and logistic support in addition to preparing them for producing the quality necessary to enter the global market.
He added that there will be a pilot project to plant strawberries and rosebushes in the West bank, adding that about 450 farmers will benefit from the project and the agreement in different areas of the West Bank, especially in Jordan Valley, and in the Gaza Strip.
