UNRWA to Halt Humanitarian Aid Deliveries to Gaza Strip Today

GAZA, May 05, 2008, (WAFA)-United Nations Work and Relief Agency (UNRWA) said that it would halt humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip today, Monday, because of diminishing of fuel for its vehicles operating in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement on Monday, UNRWA Spokesperson Christopher Janise said that having no fuel in our cars and other UNRWA vehicles this means that our programmes on education, health and other social services would strongly be affected.

UNRWA, which provides aid to Gazans, said that the fuel will lead to halt food distribution programs today and this would affect about 650 thousand residents of Gaza.

The Israeli occupation authorities so suddenly closed yesterday evening Al-Mintar commercial crossing and 'Nahal Oz' crossing through fuel transfers to Gazans, and that caused anger among citizens who were hoping to fill a fraction of daily belongings due to lack of fuel and domestic cooking gas.
