Hamas Expands Attacks in Gaza, Kills 5
GAZA, February 1, 2007, (WAFA)- The death toll of Hamas attacks against Palestinian security forces climbed to five, medical and security sources said.
The sources told WAFA that four security members, Ramadhan Mshallah 24, Ikrami Ghonim 26, Mohammed Khattab 50, and Morad Altalla 23, were killed Thursday in Hamas attack, medical sources confirmed.
The fifth citizen, Osama Shamali, was killed north of Gaza, the sources said.
Medics reported that at least fifty others were wounded during clashes.
In the meantime, several security men were wounded when Hamas militia attacked intelligence apparatus, north of Gaza, security sources said.
Witnesses said that Hamas militia attacked the compound at kidnapped the security men and opened fire at their legs before setting fire to the caravans in the compound.
Hamas claimed that President's convoy was carrying weapons from Egypt. But both Egyptian official and Fateh spokesperson denied Hamas claims.
Spokesperson of Presidential Guard, Wael Dahab, said that the convoy carried military tents and equipments belonging to President Abbas's guard.
"Hamas members used rifles and RBG in the attack, they stolen equipments documents and several things then set fire to the compound," eyewitness said preferring to by anonymous.
Clashes were expanded as Hamas attacked several security compounds in different parts of Gaza.
Hamas attacks come in the third day of truce after three bloody days in Gaza.
