President Meets Chancellor of Germany in Davos
DAVOS, January 25, 2007, (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas met, in Davos, with Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel.
President briefed Merkel about the latest developments in the Palestinian territories especially the Israeli assassinations of Palestinian citizens as well as the colonization in the West Bank.
He also highlighted the latest internal efforts for forming new Palestinian government.
Abbas and Merkel discussed the ways of reviving the peace process in the Middle East, based on the Road Map and the relevant UN resolutions, and the establishing of a viable Palestinian state on the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967.
President Abbas arrived Wednesday in Davos Resort, Switzerland, to participate in the World Economic Forum.
He will brief the participants on the dire economic situation faced by the Palestinian people due to the Israeli and international siege imposed on the Palestinian territory.
