GCMHP Denounces Bombing the Office of Arabiya TV
GAZA, January 24, 2007 (WAFA) - Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP) strongly denounced on Wednesday the bombing that took place at office of Al-Arabia Arabic News channel in Gaza City.
In a press release, GCMHP renewed its respect and appreciation for the two news channels for their hard work and commitment to the media coverage of Israeli violations of Palestinian human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
GCMHP considered attacks on journalists as a blatant violation of freedom of expression and inhibits the important roles that journalists play in uncovering the continuous crimes of Israeli occupation.
"We, at GCMHP emphasize that such incident is committed by a group that does not represent the values of Palestinian people in such critical times, where Palestinians need to unite, reinforce national unity, and stand against the Israeli plans of fragmentation of the Palestinian society," it said.
GCMHP strongly condemned these actions that undermine the authority of the PNA and its security forces and call them to take their responsibilities in preserving law and order and to take all necessary measures in enforcing the supremacy of law.
GCMHP called upon the PNA to stop the state of lawlessness and insecurity that is prevailing in the Palestinian community as such state lead to negative repercussions on the mental health and social peace in the whole Palestinian community.
