RAMALLA, January 22, 2007 (WAFA) -President Mahmoud Abbas condemned Monday the explosion which targeted Al Arabiya television in Gaza City.

President Abbas' media advisor, Mr. Nabil Amr, said that the President denounced this aggression and considered it a dangerous attack on the freedom of press in Palestine.

Amr added that President Abbas gave orders to the security services to their best to arrest the assailants and bring them to justice and to protect local and international press institutions working in Palestine.

Today an explosion torn apart the office of Al Arabiya TV Channel, causing no injuries.

Witnesses added that the newsroom was empty when the planted explosive device went off, adding that the explosion smashed the door of the office of Reuters News Agency across the hallway.

Al-Arabiya employees had not arrived at work for several days because of anonymous telephone threats by unknown persons.
