JERUSALEM, January15, 2007, (WAFA)-The Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) said that it compelled Israeli authorities to stop demolishing a house of one of the Jahalin Bedouin in Jerusalem.

In a statement issued Monday, ICAHD revealed that the presence of the press, some 10 activists, , Rabbis for Human Rights, Anarchists Against Walls, Alternative Information Centre and the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme (of the WCC), the authorities had to retreat or risk an illegal demolition.

"A small, but significant victory. The family home, that of Khaled el Pasha (a seller of scrap metal) at Jabal el Baba (the Pope's Hill), Azaria , where the Maale Adumim wall is being built - was saved," ICAHD said.

ICAHD concluded that Demolitions also took place this morning at A-Tur (the Mount of Olives) and Issawiya, the latter completing demolition of a home that was half demolished last month.
