President Rejects State with Interim Borders
RAMALLAH, January 11, 2007, (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday that the Palestinians would not accept a Palestinian state with interim borders.
During a rally marking the 42nd anniversary of the founding of the Fatah Movement at his headquarters in the West Bank town of Ramallah, President Abbas rejected a Palestinian state with interim borders, bargling on the issue of refugees or giving up a single span of East Jerusalem.
Abbas also expressed his deep refuse of settling the Palestinian refugees abroad.
President reiterated that the PLO is the sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, asserting that it is the "political and legal umbrella of the Palestinian National Authority."
He reiterated that "we" are totally with peace based on justice. "We need a peace for our sons and their sons (the Israelis), for our grandsons and theirs, we need a peace based on justice rather than atrocity and yuck".
As for the internal crisis, President Abbas asserted on the necessity of the national unity.
"Preserve national unity and preventing internal clashes is our priority. Spilling Palestinian blood is a red line that should not be crossed and those who do so are criminals," he said.
Tens of thousands of mostly youthful Fateh supporters waved Palestinian flags and yellow Fatah standards as they gathered next to the mausoleum of Fatah founder and long-time leader, the late President Yasser Arafat.
