RAMALLAH, January, 2007 (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas received Wednesday in the Presidential HQ in Ramallah city, German Envoy to Middle east, Mr. Horst Freitag.

The President briefed Mr. Freitag on the latest development in the Palestinian arena in light of international siege imposed on the Palestinian people.

They discussed also possible ways to push the peace process forward and activate the role of the EU and the Quartet, especially as Germany chairs the EU Presidency.

The President thanked Germany government and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel for continued support to the Palestinian people.
