RAMALLAH, December 21, 2006, (WAFA)- President Mahmoud abbas received Thursday, in Ramallah, a delegation from the EU Parliament.

President briefed the delegation about the miserable conditions the Palestinian people live as a result of the Israeli and international siege.

He also briefed them on the exerted efforts for forming a national unity government capable to end the siege.

The members of the EU delegation, head by the head of Committee in the European Parliament Elmar Brok, expressed their support for the unity of the Palestinian people.

They told reporters that their visit to the Palestinian territories is to discuss the suffer of the Palestinian people they feel with.

They added that they discussed, with President Abbas, the issue of development in Palestine, and reiterated on the "depth" of the Palestinian-EU friendship.

Members of delegation asserted on helping the two parts in the region for ending anxious and for speeding up development in peace process.
