UNRWA Thanks UK for Donation to Help palestinian Refugees
JERUSALEM, December 12, 2006, (WAFA)- Karen AbuZayed, Commissioner- General, of UNRWA, expressed her thanks to the British Government for its contribution of £76.6 million to help UNRWA services for Palestinian refugees over the next four years.
In a press release, issued Tuesday, UNRWA said that the United Kingdom has long been a key contributor to UNRWA and has provided over £122 million since 2000.
Commenting on the donation AbuZayed said "UNRWA wishes to thank the British Government for its generous contribution. It arrives at a time of unprecedented need among Palestinian refugees."
UNRWA said that the contribution will help deliver humanitarian relief and provide education, health care and social services to a population of 4.3 million Palestine refugees living in Gaza, West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
