REYKJAVIK, Wednesday, October 30, 2019 (WAFA) – The new Palestinian ambassador in the Kingdom of Norway Marie Antoinette Sedin presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Iceland Guðni Th. Jóhannesson.
Sedin handed over her credentials to Jóhannesson as a non-resident ambassador to the Republic of Iceland.
She greeted the Icelandic president on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas and passed along Abbas’ appreciation of Iceland for its recognition of the State of Palestine based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
She thanked him for his support to Palestine and the United Nations agency responsible for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) and passed along Abbas’ wishes for the continuing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
President Jóhannesson welcomed the new Palestinian ambassador, stressed his country‘s support to Palestine until a just peace is achieved and the Palestinian people gain their freedom and independence, and affirmed his country‘s adherence to the two-state solution as the only viable option to end the occupation and bring peace between the two countries.
