RAFAH, Monday, December 10, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli navy boats detained two Palestinian fishermen and seized their boat on Monday while sailing off the southern Gaza shores near Rafah, according to a local fisherman.
He told WAFA that the Israeli navy monitoring the Gaza coast opened fire and water hosed fishermen who were sailing about four nautical miles near Rafah seashore, detained two fishermen aged 20 and 24 years and seized their boat.
The fishermen were sailing within the legal set by the Israeli military, which is six nautical miles in the south of the Gaza Strip even though agreements allow fishing within 12 nautical miles. Fishing in the north is allowed within only three nautical miles, which fisherman say is not enough to catch fish.
