RAMALLAH, October 11, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli army and police large scale detention campaign in Jerusalem and the West Bank hit the main front page headlines in the three Palestinian dailies on Tuesday.

Al-Ayyam said Israeli forces detained a total of 64 Palestinians, including 12 minors as well as the father and daughter of Misbah Abu Sbeih who was shot dead by police on Sunday after attacking and killing two Israelis in Jerusalem.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said scores of Palestinians were detained during the overnight raids.

Al-Quds said undercover Israeli forces detained nine Palestinian children from Aida refugee camp in the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem.

While al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted the detention campaign in their main front page story, al-Quds opted to give prominence to army raids at the Abu Sbeih family home al-Ram, north of Jerusalem, and taking measurements for the structure in preparation to demolish it.

The papers said several Palestinians were injured in clashes with soldiers that broke out during the raid.

Al-Ayyam said police detained several Palestinians who captured video footages of the drive-by shooting attack and several others who expressed support for it and distributed candy in jubilation.

Highlighting Israeli reprisals against Palestinians, the dailies said the Israeli municipality of Jerusalem halted the issuance of building permits for Palestinians in Jerusalem.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam citied a Haaretz investigation about a video footage that refutes Israeli military claims that two Palestinians were killed after attempting to stab soldiers at Qalandiya checkpoint in May.

They reported a video footage shows that Maram Abu Ismail, 23, and her brother Ibrahim Taha, 16, were shot dead by Israeli police at Qalandiya checkpoint without any justification.

Citing a report by the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in Occupied Territories (B’Tselem), al-Quds said a total of 1,062 Palestinians were displaced by Israeli military in the Jordan Valley since early 2016.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said a total of 177 Israeli Jewish settlers and intelligence officers conducted provocative tours of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound following calls by right-wing Jewish organizations.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Israel imposed a general closure on the West Bank for the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, Day of Atonement.

Al-Ayyam said 10-year-old Palestinian-Norwegian Rashid Hijjawi has joined the Italian football champions Juventus FC.
